James-Robert Sellinger joined Palisades Financial in 2004. His principal responsibilities at Palisades is the origination and closing of senior, subordinated and mezzanine loans, equity investments, and distressed debt acquisitions in structured positions of $3 -$50 Million. He brings to this position more than 20 years of experience in real estate lending, asset management and workouts.
Prior to joining Palisades Financial, Mr. Sellinger served as a Mortgage Banker with Northmarq Capital and with a boutique mortgage banking firm where he originated more than $200 million in debt and equity through various capital market sources. Sellinger also served for seven years as Manager in the Real Estate Investment Banking group at Merrill Lynch where he was part of the origination, underwriting and closing of over $2.0 billion of securitized debt collateralized by commercial real estate nationwide. As Director/Advisor in the early 1990’s, Sellinger managed the workout and disposition of $1.0+ billion of troubled real estate projects and non-performing loans with financial institutions, national accounting/consulting firms, investors, the RTC and FDIC. Mr. Sellinger brings well-established relationships in the national real estate community with lenders, owners and managers from senior management positions with AT&T;’s real estate subsidiary, The City of New York, and Government of Israel, municipality of Kiryat Shmonah where he served at advisor and City Planner.
Mr. Sellinger holds an MBA from Cornell University's Johnson Graduate School of Management, a BBA in General Business and Finance from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, and has served at an instructor in real estate finance classes at the NYU Real Estate Institute. James-Robert is a licensed real estate broker in New York State, a member of the Cornell Real Estate Council, New York/New Jersey Chapter of the Mortgage Bankers Association and currently serves as Chairman, Borough of Tenafly Planning Board, a Mayoral appointment. He resides in Tenafly New Jersey with his wife and two young daughters.
