Procida receives ABO's
Developer of Year Award

The Procida Organization was founded in 1928 by Mario Procida as a masonry and concrete contractor. Today, the third-generation family-owned enterprise has completed  more than $250 million in projects involving gut rehabilitation, townhouse development and retail office space.

Headquartered in The Bronx, the full-service general contracting firm is headed by William Procida, co-president of Real Estate and Development; Christine Procida, co-president of Sales and Marketing; and Mario Procida, co-president of Construction and Design.

In announcing the award, Jerome Belson, ABO President, said, "The Procida Organization leads The Bronx community in the development and rehabilitation of affordable housing, one of New York City's most valuable assets."

Among the firm's low and middle-income residential projects either recently completed or nearing completion - in The Bronx are: Crotona Terrace, a development on Crotona Park East providing 52 new units of affordable housing; Crotona Center, a 14,000 square-foot retail strip; Melrose Court, a new, 265-unit, subsidized housing development; and the renovation of 85 units along Walton Avenue for low-income and homeless families in The Bronx.

Procida also has been designated by the City of New York to develop three separate commercial strips in The Bronx. The firm has received many awards including the 1994 Governor's Award for Excellence in Low-Income Housing; and "Pillar of the Industry" Award for Best Affordable Housing Developer in the U.S. from the National Association of Home builders.

The Procida Organization also has been ranked in Engineering News Record magazine's nationwide "Top 400 Contractors;" Professional Builder's "Housing Giant 400;" and "Top 15 Giants in Remodeling."
